Frequently asked questions

WHAT TREATMENT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY TATTOO IF THE BANDAGE IS A SELF-ADHESIVE FILM?

If you notice redness that forms around the film or if you feel an abnormal itch, remove the film as soon as possible.

Some may experience reactions to certain products. It is normal to see an accumulation of ink under the film. If the film does not bother you, I advise you to keep it for 2 to 4 days following its application. If the film does not seem to hold or it bothers you for any other reason, you can remove it before the recommended time without problem.

To remove the film:

  • It will be important to remove it underwater. This process could be uncomfortable.

  • Then clean your tattoo with a bar of neutral soap (without perfumes). Avoid rubbing the soap directly on your tattoo (otherwise the soap will be contaminated) Rather, soap it in your hand and then wash your tattoo with soapy water until everything looks smooth and clean. If there is some glue around the tattoo, you can use baby oil to remove it.

  • When your tattoo is clean, use a clean paper towel to blot it. (Avoid using a towel)

WHAT TREATMENT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY TATTOO IF THE BANDAGE IS AN ABSORBENT PAD SURROUNDED BY ADHESIVE TAPE?

If possible, I suggest keeping the bandage for the first night. When you remove the bandage, clean your tattoo with a bar of neutral soap (without perfumes).

Avoid rubbing the soap directly on your tattoo (otherwise the soap will be contaminated) Rather, soap it in your hand and then wash your tattoo with soapy water until everything looks smooth and clean.

When your tattoo is clean:

  • Use a clean paper towel to blot it. (Avoid using a towel)

  • For hydration, I mainly recommend a moisturizer without perfumes (Aveeno, Vaseline (the cream, not petroleum jelly) etc.) Usually I wait a few days before hydrating a new tattoo. The cream is mainly used to relieve and moisturize the skin when your tattoo is dry. So, you should only apply the cream when you feel the need (once or twice a day is enough)

  • The most important thing will be to avoid rubbing the tattoo on dirty surfaces, to avoid scratching it (despite the perfectly normal itching) and to avoid putting on clothes that are too tight during the first weeks.

  • It will also be important to continue cleaning your tattoo the same way until complete healing. This can take 2 to 3 weeks.
